Hey Howdy Hey, how is it going guys???? this is...well if you dont know who this is then thats kinda funny haha. So you asked some questions that i will respond too first then i will give you the rest of my updates. Dad, you asked alot about the area, and stuff, We are in a full car area, well full truck actually. We have a truck because during transfers we get to help out and stuff. it is pretty cool, except in our apartments parking lot it doesn't fit very well haha because we live in a little alley way and it is a super super tight fit. haha. Our apartment is...well it is pretty poopy, it is a really tiny apartment, and it actually sucks haha. we dont have any furniture, and no microwave. It is funny, i keep finding all these remnants of "elder trowbridge" There is a drawer that has a lot of nametags in it, and his is in their and their is a rubbing alcohol bottle in the apartment that says "dont let trowbridge touch this bottle" haha i took a picture of it. Kinda funny (by the way tell him congrats on the engagements, tell him i found out through Enrique in singles ward).
The zone, is the largest in the mission, we have 33 missionaries, (soon to be 30, the visa waiters are leaving) and three districts. with two new district leaders...We cover two different wards, the U of O singles ward, and also a family ward, so far i absolutely love it. Last night we had dinner with this family and we totally had a "haydn and brady" conversation, they were making fun of me cuz i like how lotion smells, and then they showed me this lotion called "twilight woods" from bath and body works...it smells really great. haha. but anyway the members are really great here, and i like it a lot. I Love it. Dad, you also asked about investigators...this area is really dead...like, only one investigator, so we are working really hard to find some new people to teach and it is working! On thursday we went to the university of oregon and volunteered on campus to do service, for university day, and not only did i get a free t shirt, but we found one new investigator and a potential investigator! I'll keep you updated, as we continue to find new people to teach =)
Well wow, that was a really long winded start haha. Now, i will update you on the rest of my week. it started monday with zone leader council and my first time at the mission home, haha since i didnt get to go when i first came in. We had such an amazing meeting. We sang the OEM song it was so so powerful!!!!!!!! we had a spiritually packed meeting. I felt so bad, our mission isnt seeing the success we have before, and president macdonald said he felt like it was his fault. It broke my heart. We also got together the next day to go over the things we want to go over with our individual zones, this transfer we are focusing on baptism. (i thought it was interesting that that was some of the advice jake gave to me on the phone) we also want our missionaries to have fun. If they arent having fun they are doing the work wrong (i learned that from josh), it was cool, we oymed a guy in the sisters area, and went in to teach him and set a baptismal date with him on the spot. so many miracles can be seen when the Lord knows he can trust you. in district meeting it was combined so we got to teach it. and we started out with d & c 135. about joseph smith and how he was the best blood of the century.. then we watched the end of joseph smith the prophet of the restoration, to realy emphasize the sacrifice. it was so powerful. Our zone has doubled in people with baptismal dates, just in this week.! it made me so so so happy. speaking of, here is a miracle for ya. on thursday we did a windows of heaven, and started with a prayer, asking for miracles to be seen and the windows of heaven to be opened, and in a half an hour two companionships had set two dates. so in a half hour four people were committed to baptism! so cool. i love miracles.
So here are just a couple of other little things to update you on. I found out from the zone leaders in medford that the Vaoifi family, the samoan family i was teaching is getting baptized on may 28th...i wish i coulda been there to see that, but i know i needed to be elsewhere..i love that famly though. so our apartment...remember how i said we live next to a frat and a sorority house...well on thursday nights it is "thirsty thursday" and beer is only a dollar. so every week on thursday people are throwing parties and it is super annoying to try and sleep haha. Kinda a random funny story. also there is a donut shop here i want to take you to called Voodoo donuts. It is so awesome. They have maple bars with bacon in it. and donuts that basically have anything on it. They even have jelly filled voodoo donuts haha. we got a five gallon bucket for five dollars. so so funny.
well Jake always gives me some cool scripture to reflect on, so i will share one with you. on Mothers day i was studying because to be quite blunt i am kinda sick of the same ol mothers day talk that talks about the army of helaman, yes they are cool, but there has to be someone else in the book of mormon to help us appreciate mothers, well...i found one!!! I nephi chapter 5. This is what i call the trial of sariahs faith, i was thinking about a couple things first how i am absolutely postive that mothers have all these trials that we never even know about, thats why moms have such amazing testimonies. Like sariah after their trial they bear testimony. (verse 8) also I was thinking about sariahs trial. I cant even imagine how hard it must have been for her, i can see why she complained a little though, she gave four of her sons, to the service of the lord, to not even know if they will come back alive. I related that to my mommy giving her sons to missionary work. I dunno why i am sharing this, i just thought it was kinda cool. but this email is getting long haha sorry. I hope you know how much i love you all. i am so grateful for you and all you do for me. Josh have a happy birthday, Jake you wil be in my prayers., good luch with your test, hannah, have fun driving, Dad, and mom have fun in georgia! i love you guys so so much.
