Hey Nelson family. How are you all doing? It sounds like things are going great! How was your guys' week? It sounds like it was a lot of fun! Mom and hannah i am so proud of you guys! your awesome. Look at you go! Jake...how is school? good luck with finals. Josh, thanks for your email. I will expand in a sec. Dad, how are ya? it sounds like you are doing great. You guys are all so great! Man i love you all. Mom i loved the story you told me about Mason adair. tell them hi, and please tell tom and sally walk hi as well. they are awesome. I love those guys!
Well you guys mentioned a couple things in your emails to me...haha well they fit perfectly with my email this week. Mom you mentioned that i always was up for a challenge..well you are so right. I am so up for it! Josh i found it funny that you mentioned that things happen in the lords time in His way. In my letter to president i talked a lot about that, we have very little teaching pool right now and all the gators we find dont meet with us ever. The one guy we set a baptismal date with is from china, and well we found out three days after we set the date, that he was moving back to china for the summer haha. it was kinda funny. we set it for July 16th, and then we came back and said, so are we still looking good for the 16th of july? and he said "well it would be...except i leave tomorrow for china" haha. good gravy. what an adventure.
so this week has been kinda fun and funny, haha. I promise i have laughed a lot this week despite what you may think from this email. It really has been a good week, kinda crazy but a lot of fun. So it starts with the crazy stuff first. Wednesday we had the assistant to the assistants with us and he was driving the truck and we were driving through a school zone and the city bus pulled off to the side, of the road and so the car in front of us slowed down and stopped, then we slammed on our brakes and stopped...well then the car behind us didnt stop in time haha. Yay for rear endings! No worries no one was hurt and it was actually a pretty funny story. It was an adventure and a good journal entry. but thats not the least of it. later that night we got a call at like 10:45 from one of our district leaders who said that two of the elders in his district were fighting...it was crazy. the next day we met with one of them and i guess it was all just because one wants to be super opinionated and loved at the same time, i guess the he is always correcting and never thinking he is doing anything wrong. then the other missionary has the shortest fuse ever...yeah not a good combination. And they are staying together one more transfer! yay...next transfer there are a lot of troubled missionaries coming in. haha. yippee. Happy, humble and easy going. =)
ok now the good stuff. Tuesday, I was on exchanges with an elder named elder smith, we were planning to do a window of heaven and so we pulled off to a dirt road, and knocked on the doors on that road before we went to the main street. There was really no one on that street. so we went to the other street we had planned on, and we found like four potential investigators and a part member family! it was awesome. then as we were walking back to the truck, one of the houses we knocked on earlier on the dirt road that didnt answer had a girl outside this time so we talked to her, She is Jehovah witness and said she really just wants to know truth. we set up an appointment with her for Tuesday, and i am really excited to meet with her. she seems like a really open and honest seeker of truth. I will keep you updated. I tell you this story because i know the Lord directs everything we do. We parked there for a reason, and i know she was that reason.
Zone conference this week was really emotional . It was good and sad at the same time. Knowing it is the last one we will have with president and sister MacDonald. I feel really blessed i was able to conduct and be able to sit next to president. He is so funny. He is super fidgety on the stand. I was trying hard not to laugh. He and i have a really funny relationship. Whenever he sees me, he jokes with me and says "gentleman...elder nelson". haha. Like saying that everyone else is a gentleman and i am just there haha. it is funny. at the end of zone conference he was giving everyone hugs and giving them all advice and when it was my turn he looked at me...then looked at my tag and said "oh elder nelson' and that was it haha. It was funny. He said he had someone in his home this week that knew jake and said we looked nothing alike. He is awesome we joke all the time. i am going to miss him. It was kinda sad. at the end of the conference we all turned to President and sister MacDonald and sang to them "god be with you til we meet again" lots of tears. Like i said before, i knew the day would come, i just never thought it would.
Just a little more news, elder sorenson is getting transferred and i am getting a new companion. his name is elder knight, I have heard only great things about him. i am super excited to get him. it will be a lot of fun. I hear he is a great worker and has an awesome personality, and he is a bowler!!!!!!!!!!! i miss bowling. haha.
Well i sure hope you see that this email was supposed to be kinda fun. I know it may seem like a downer one but it really isn't i promise. things are great. Dad you mentioned that i may not see it now but there is growth, testimony and many things being learned through these times. I don't really see it now but i think (or at least i hope) i will. =) Don't worry. Things are great. I love it here and i am having a blast. Just a couple quotes for ya.
