Hello Everyone!!!!
Welp i know what you may have been thinking...Where in the world is Elder Nelson? Why hasn't he emailed yet? or maybe i am just flattering myself and your having too much fun with the puppy that replaced me? Either way i still love you and i am writing to you now haha. (Totally just kidding by the way) Well, it sounds like this week was a good one for you. Hannah, in every email i got today they said "i will let hannah tell you about her date" so....now i am waiting for you to tell me about your date!!!! How was it? I heard you got home late? You were supposed to be home by 9:30 like me!!! tisk tisk tisk. No but i hope you had a good time and it was lots of fun.
Now...you may be wondering why i wasnt able to email you yesterday...well today (tuesday) turned out to be our preparation day. This week was super crazy. I have a lot of cool experiences to tell you about. So it all starts with tuesday, we had zone leader council and it was....AWESOME!!!!!!! It always is. It was such a spiritual experience. I love it. We talked a lot about lifting the one, finding the one person who needs our help and then going about to build them up. I had the opportunity to see that happen over the past few weeks with an elder in the zone. He is super quiet and we never could really tell what he thought of the work, and we had an investigator (Devin) who lives in their ward that we passed off to them. In the process of doing so we were able to teach some lessons with them, and as we taught devin, this elder would never talk in the lesson, but the final lesson, he had some really cool insights and he even said the closing prayer. It was a really amazing thing to see, he has made some big changes in the past few days, he used to come to district meeting and not do anything but this last one as he left, he shouted to elder hackett and i and said "i love you guys!" It is cool to see the miracles and growth happen all around me.
So our preparation day is today because we had a member of the first quorum of the seventy come to the mission. Elder Paul E. Koelliker. It was a super neato experience. On sunday evening we got to have another zone leader council with him, and he taught us about prayer and how if we increase our ability to pray and to help our investigators pray then our missions baptisms will increase from 50% that have dates getting baptized to 75% of them. Definitely something i am going to apply. He was a really powerful teacher. I learned alot. Something kinda exciting i thought i would update you on. we were asked to write a talk to share if he called on us, so i will have to send mine to you. =) You asked about transfers...they are next tuesday, the way it is looking, it seems as if i will be transferred to a new area. I have been here for six months, three with elder hackett, and both of the assistants have told me that i am gone haha. I was thinking about it, and i dont really know how i feel, this area has been crazy for me haha, i have learned a lot. We had a lesson a few nights ago with Kris and a young man named Elliot, who returned to activity since i have been here, and as we sat in the appointment i felt at home. This ward has been really great. I guess we'll see where the Lord takes me next huh? =)
The final thing i want to share with you is something that We taught this week in district meeting. we focused the first half on goals but the second half we wanted to talk about studies, so we found an activity on page 18 of preach my gospel (this is an activity i would invite you to do. It rocks) at the top of the page it has some questions about Joseph Smith and how is study of the bible and prayer, and pondering led to what we have today. Well we found the picture that it asks us to study in those D&C dvds that you sent me for christmas, and we put it on the screen for them to look at and we gave them time to just sit and ponder, it was such a powerful part. The spirit seriously just took over and you could have cut it with a knife. As i looked around the room I felt so blessed to be with the missionaries. I could tell how far some had come, and it made me want to be there to help them in anyway i could. I Looked at the one elder who had been teaching devin with us, and saw how great he was, and then i thought about how large a zone is with 37 missionaries in it haha. It was a really neat experience and something that i really needed. Just htought i would share.
Other than that not too much to report, i am sure that after next week ther will be more to update you on. We'll see if i do actually end up getting transferred or what happens.
