Hey guys!!
Well before i tell you about my week I have a quick question for you all, President Young has invited us to all think about 5 guiding principles that we will live the rest of our lives by. I think it was partly inspired by the new teachings of the prophet book that we are using this year in church. So my question for you is, what are some principles that you all use to guide your lives by? I have a few ideas but it would be nice to get some feedback from people smarter than me. =)
Also Dad, Josh, and Jake, just a few questions that I have for you...I kinda have thought about these the past few days and I wanna ask you them.
-If you could go back to the mission field knowing what you know now, what would you do differently? (when elder bednar came to oregon a bishop asked him this question but about being a bishop)
-What things did you do to ensure that you learned and became all Heavenly Father wanted to learn and become?

So, I heard a quote the other day that basically sums up how this week turned in to a miracle week. "You stand tallest when you are on your knees" , and let me just tell ya, I dont think i could say it enough but i know without a doubt that the prayers that we say are not only heard but answered. This week started out super super super slow, nothing was going how we wanted it to. Appointments were falling through, no one was wanting to hear about the restored gospel, and the weather was rainless and freezing!!! haha, by the time saturday hit i was feeling a little like a smurf. BUT ALAS!!!! Thank goodness I have a Father in Heaven who is mindful of me and my companion and our desires. Saturday was the most fantastical day! So we decided in the morning we would go and contact potential investigators and the first one was not super interested then we walked across the street to contact another one and he pulled up in his car right as we got there, so we spoke to him for a minute and then said well could we come in and talk to ya for a bit? and he was all "yeah for sure" His name is Devan, he is 19. We taught him the restoration, and at the end of it asked him to read the Book of Mormon to know if it was true, and asked him when he knew they were true to be baptized and he said "yeah i will" we were stoked!!!! After lunch we went to an appointment with one of our investigators named charity, who wants to be baptized on the 28th. She is going through a harder time right now and doesnt know if she will need brain surgery or not kinda crazy, so we felt like we needed to watch finding faith in christ with her, the spirit was so strong, and you could tell that a lot of fears and concerns had been cleared up. That was a great lesson. We rushed from that appointment to an appointment with Daniel (the young man who was scheduled to be baptized a few weeks ago but was antied) we invite him at the beginning of the lesson to be thinking throughout the lesson about baptism and why he thinks it would be good for him. Then we taught him the third lesson (the gospel of Jesus Christ) and at the end of the lesson we invited him to kneel with us and say a prayer either out loud or in his head to know whether or not he needed to be baptized. So we all got on our knees and he said a prayer in his head (mean while elder Collins and I were praying our guts out) and can i just tell you, you probably couldn't have cut through the spirit in that room with a chainsaw it was so strong. Daniel told us that he asked several times if he needed to be baptized and he got his answer, He knows and wants to be baptized. It was so awesome. That night we had a lesson with Desmond. He is doing great. But right now he is having a little trouble with a decision of whether or not to go back to alaska, He feels like the only reason he should go back is for his sister, and is scared to ask the Lord because he doesn't want to go back to his old lifestyle and friends and things. We had a really powerful and spirit led discussion, about how the lord wont put us through any trial unless he knows we can handle it, and how if we are on the lords side we shall not fear. Well long story short he met with the branch president yesterday and we are waiting to hear what he needs to do. Keep him in your prayers. It was a good lesson, he was put at ease and lots of fears and worries he had were taken away. (isn't the Atonement great?)
I love the revelation that is received through prayer and study. can i Just tell ya IT IS AWESOME!!!!!! It has been an excellent week, and a great start to a new transfer. =) I hope all is well with you guys and that you are going to have an awesome week. Be safe, be happy, be smart.
